Fun with Wine Corks and Labels

by Margaret Kalal

There are tons of projects you can create with wine corks, labels, bottles and crates. Here are a few that were completed over the past year.

An 11X14 frame was covered with wine labels and filled with cork to make unique bulletin board.

I painted the round table top in a light gray and the legs in a black gloss. Then I used E6000 glue to adhere the corks to the table top. I cut the corks in half to fill the center, using the rounded tops and bottoms. Above you will see how the table looked before I placed a 1/4" piece of glass on top to protect the cork and to make a flat surface.

Wine Label Tables

I used about 2 dozen wine labels to decoupage the top of this little side table. The black gloss finish and glass top really made a statement.

This was a coffee table that was perfect for a bunch of labels. I painted the table a neutral brown color, slightly distressed the edges and applied a sealant as it was going to be a patio table. There are loads of labels on here - no two are exactly the same! I topped it off with a long piece of glass so we could use outside all year long.

Wine Crate Bench

This outside bench is a combination of wine crates and metal working done by a very talented friend of mine. It measures about 8 ft. long and fit perfectly under a set of windows on the covered patio. I just threw some pillows on top to finish off the look. This is one of my favorite pieces.
