Carousel Horse Turnaround

by Margaret Kalal

I've always wanted to repaint an old carousel horse and I finally found one at a local warehouse. Initially I had plans to paint every bit of the horse exactly like you would find it on a carousel but after sizing up the project, I opted to spray it with a textured paint and call it a day. I think the end product looks pretty neat in my backyard.

I used a textured spray paint (took 4 cans!) to cover the carousel horse. I sprayed a large dowel gold, capped it with a decorative curtain rod finial and placed it down the center of the horse. I used another gold-sprayed dowel for the head handles and capped them black drawer knobs. Once the horse finished I filled a planter with succulents and inserted the pony pole in the center. It has made a cute addition to my garden.
